about

A message from Diego Fedora:

Inimitable: so uniquely extraordinary as to not be copied or equaled.

That describes Eddie Angel perfectly. To my mind, he is one of the most important guitarists in music today. He continues to innovate, yet serves as a direct link to the originators of authentic rock & roll.

Long ago Lao Tzu wrote, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” Well, one of the few good things that came out of the pandemic was that I got the chance to study guitar with one of my long time guitar idols, Eddie Angel. Since our first meeting, he has become not only a remarkable teacher to me, but a true friend and mentor.

I mean it when I say inimitable. When I decided to pay tribute to Eddie, I knew I couldn’t come close to accurately representing the amazing power and subtlety of his technique and his musical expression. My intention here is simply to share a little of what I’ve learned from him and to offer my gratitude for appearing at exactly the right time.

If you want the real deal, you need to buy Eddie’s music––now. Of course you should own everything by Los Straitjackets, but be sure to also check out his work with The Neanderthals, The Planet Rockers, The Panasonics and the legendary Sandy Nelson and his Sin City Termites.

And his solo work! Some of my favorites are his “Eddie Angel Meets the Beatles,” “Eddie Angel Plays Link Wray” and of course, “Eddie Angel’s Guitar Party.”

Eddie, Thank You from the bottom of my heart for your patience, your tutelage, your friendship and your music. You have shaped my music and changed my life––both for the better!
